Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking an RN in the Operating Room for a 24-hour per week schedule. The role includes caring for surgical patients, planning and executing perioperative care, and collaborating with the health care team. On-call availability and weekend shifts are required.

The ideal candidate holds an RN license in Michigan, a BSN is preferred, and current BLS is mandatory; ACLS/PALS are assets with timely certification. Prior specialty experience is valued.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred.
• Michigan RN licensure required.
• BLS/CPR certification required.
• ACLS and PALS preferred with time-bound renewals.
• Experience in specialty areas is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient's condition and discharge needs.
• Develop a plan of care using nursing diagnoses and goals.
• Implement nursing care and physician orders.
• Prioritize care based on patient needs and resources.
• Perform procedures and assist physicians with care.
• Evaluate patient response and adjust the plan as needed.
• Educate patients and families on care and safety.
• Document care accurately in the patient record.
• Respect patient rights and maintain safety and confidentiality.
• Respond to emergencies per standards and protocols.
• Demonstrate professionalism and participate in staff development.
