Job Overview

RL Canning is seeking an experienced Portfolio Analyst to join our IT team. This role is responsible for establishing, implementing, developing, and controlling best practices for IT project management throughout the organization. This includes defining and documenting all policies and processes across project lifecycles to ensure projects are delivered according to plan and within budget. The Portfolio Analyst will also create formal methodologies for defining project key performance metrics and allocating resources.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $110,00.00 to $115,000.00 annually, along with a comprehensive benefits package detailed in the “Benefits Offered” section of the job description. The salary wage offered within this range will be influenced by factors such as work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. During the hiring process, your recruiter will provide more specific information about the salary range, considering these factors. Compensation and benefits remain in the Company's sole discretion and may be modified at the Company’s absolute discretion, consistent with applicable law, until they are paid.

In this role, you will
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business objectives in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Define project success criteria and communicate them to all involved parties throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end, including developing full-scale project plans and associated communication documents.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools, and track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and develop contingency plans.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members and contractors, encouraging positive action and accountability for assigned work.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner, liaising with stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Build, develop, and grow business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Conduct project postmortems and create recommendation reports to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Perform additional tasks as necessary to support and achieve business objectives.
For this role, you will need
  • Strong familiarity with project management software, such as MS Project.
  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Administration, and/or 10 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Strong familiarity with financial software or project management systems, including project portfolio systems.
  • Experience developing and deploying project best practices, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel management.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support client projects and corporate responsibilities.
