Job summary

The Norton Lilly International Port Captain in Oakland manages the planning, coordination, and execution of vessel and cargo operations at assigned ports, ensuring safety, efficiency, and client satisfaction. You’ll liaison with vessel owners, steamship lines, terminal operators, labor groups, and customers to balance priorities and regulatory requirements.

This role may require onsite terminal work, vessel visits, and remote coordination across locations, with accountability for performance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, Maritime Studies, or related field.
• ASBA Agency Certification required or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
• Experience in maritime or port services preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee vessel and cargo operations.
• Coordinate labor resources and operational requirements.
• Monitor workforce productivity and performance, adjusting staffing as needed.
• Prepare operational reports and communicate with stakeholders.
