Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Port Engineer to ensure readiness and operational capability of vessels supporting the recovery of New Glenn stages. You will work with engineers, technicians, and launch personnel to maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance vessel systems critical to mission success.

The role reports to the Sr. Manager of Marine Operations and requires strong technical communication, planning, and leadership of cross‑functional teams in a high-consequence environment.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering, Science, or Math.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated technical expertise in marine systems, propulsion and/or marine operations.
  • Strong operational planning and organizational skills.
  • Effective technical communication capabilities.
  • Ability to support occasional off-shift work schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee vessel systems, including propulsion, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure vessel readiness for recovery operations, including maintenance and inspections.
  • Develop and implement operational requirements for vessel support activities.
  • Advocate for design-for-operations improvements.
  • Author detailed procedures for vessel operations and maintenance.
  • Lead teams of technicians and engineers in system readiness and operational execution.
  • Develop and maintain schedules, quality documents, and engineering records.
  • Troubleshoot and correct system anomalies in real-time during recovery operations.
  • Participate in post-mission reviews and process improvement initiatives.
