Job summary

The YMCA of Catawba Valley is seeking a Lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions under the supervision of the Aquatics Director. You will monitor the pool and deck areas, build positive relationships with members, and connect participants to YMCA programs, supporting our mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Responsibilities include continuous surveillance, emergency response, first aid, safety communications, data logging, and delivering courteous

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Preferred candidates have current and active YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Must pass at least two hours of practical guarding at the branch prior to first shift.
• Ability to pass lifeguard water and audible tests.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool and deck areas.
• Respond to emergencies within the assigned zone and communicate broadly as needed.
• Perform first aid and complete incident/accident reports.
• Enforce pool, waterpark, and whirlpool safety policies and guidelines.
• Attend monthly safety and in-service trainings and arrive early for shifts.
