Job Description

The City of Independence Parks & Recreation Department is committed to excellence in programming, facilities, and service while improving the quality of life within our community. We are looking for pool maintenance workers to perform routine maintenance and cleaning of all Recreation Department aquatic facilities, including pools, pool decks, buildings, locker rooms, and bathrooms.

Days, Hours & Additional Employment Details:

This is a seasonal position from May 2025 through September 2025. Pool maintenance workers are generally scheduled to work Sunday through Saturday between 7 AM and 10 PM, up to 40 hours a week. There may be weeks throughout the year where working evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Responsibilities:

• Regular testing and maintaining pool water chemistry to meet health code standards
• Daily cleaning duties, including vacuuming, skimming, and brushing pools; cleaning and scrubbing pool decks; cleaning around pool buildings and locker rooms; emptying trash; and restocking supplies
• Responding to supervisor or guest requests as needed
• Performing other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:

While performing this seasonal job, employees are regularly required to see, speak, and hear. They frequently stand, bend, squat, and can lift up to 50 lbs. Employees must be capable of working in both indoor and outdoor environments under standard Ohio weather conditions.
