Reporting to the Supervisor, Pool Services, the Pool Lifeguard is an outgoing, motivated individual capable of adapting to change in a fast-paced pool and hospitality environment. Demonstrates passion for people, encouraging and inspiring guests to elevate their wellness and aquatic experience, while creating a safe, fun, and enjoyable atmosphere. Contributes to the pool facilities, while preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Responsible for operational excellence while providing a clean and safe environment for all patrons, team members, and vendors, safeguarding enterprise assets, and upholding departmental integrity. Collaborates, initiates, and supports opportunities with other functions by championing the goals and priorities of the Tribe in a manner that reflects and upholds the Tribe's vision, mission, and values.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Model, welcome guests, make them comfortable, and provide best-in-class guest service, including safety communication and anticipating service needs while prioritizing safety.
- Ensure the safety of hotel guests at the pool deck and all aquatic activities by supervising guests and enforcing pool rules and regulations.
- Prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies, recognizing emergencies, responding quickly and effectively to prevent drowning and incidents.
- Implement safety, sanitation, and cleanliness procedures related to pool facilities.
- Assist the facilities team in setting up and tearing down chairs and pool furniture for daily operations and extreme weather conditions.
- Adhere to enterprise and department policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
Educational, Experience, And Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience with Lifeguard certification and service.
- Valid Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications, maintained throughout employment.
- Previous experience in a spa, resort, or pool environment is highly preferred.

- Ability to work outdoors in seasonal heat, cold, and inclement weather.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with guests, team members, and management.
- Ability to handle multiple guests simultaneously.

Required Licenses, Certifications, And Registrations
- Possible requirement to obtain and maintain a gaming license as per San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission.
- Proof of Lifeguard Certificate, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
- Driving responsibilities: role may require a valid driver’s license and insurance, or no driving responsibilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Work environment primarily in a climate-controlled setting, with travel to meetings and events.
- Must work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Physical ability to exert force, lift up to 40 pounds, and perform activities like balancing, stooping, and reaching.
- Visual and auditory acuity to perform job functions effectively.
- Mobility to move safely within the environment and operate a vehicle.
- Endurance to maintain activity levels throughout extended shifts.
- Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, including secondhand smoke.
