Reporting to the Supervisor, Pool Services, the Pool Lifeguard is an outgoing, motivated individual capable of adapting to change in a fast-paced pool and hospitality environment. Demonstrates passion for people, encouraging and inspiring guests to elevate their wellness and aquatic experience, while creating a safe, fun, and enjoyable atmosphere. Contributes to pool facilities, prevents and responds to aquatic emergencies, and ensures operational excellence by maintaining a clean and safe environment for all patrons, staff, and vendors. Collaborates and supports other functions, aligning with the Tribe's vision, mission, and values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Model and provide excellent guest service, ensuring safety communication and anticipating guest needs while maintaining safety priorities.
  2. Ensure the safety of guests at the pool deck and supervise all aquatic activities, enforcing pool rules and regulations.
  3. Prevent and respond effectively to aquatic emergencies, recognizing and acting swiftly to prevent incidents.
  4. Implement safety, sanitation, and cleanliness procedures for pool facilities.
  5. Assist in setting up and tearing down chairs and pool furniture for daily operations and extreme weather conditions.
  6. Follow enterprise and department policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Guidelines.
  7. Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
Educational, Experience, and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least one (1) year of experience with Lifeguard certification and service.
  • Valid Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications, maintained throughout employment.
  • Experience in a spa, resort, or pool environment is highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work outdoors in seasonal heat, cold, and inclement weather.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle multiple guests simultaneously with outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Provide genuine, friendly, and professional service.
  • Exercise discretion with confidential information.
  • Active listening skills to meet guest needs.
  • Attention to safety and detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working under pressure.
  • Comfortable working in spa and casino environments.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long hours.
  • Maintain a positive demeanor under challenging situations.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations
  • Possibly obtain and maintain a gaming license as required by the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission.
  • Proof of Lifeguard Certificate, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
  • Driving responsibilities: either none or as specified by role.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Work environment includes climate-controlled settings, travel, and potentially evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Physical ability to exert force, lift up to 40 pounds, and perform activities like balancing, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Visual and auditory requirements to perform essential functions.
  • Mobility to move safely in various environments and operate a vehicle.
  • Endurance to sustain extended periods of activity.
  • Potential exposure to fumes or airborne particles, including secondhand smoke.
