Job summary

SAMTEC, Inc. is seeking a Plastics Engineer in Erie, PA to support and maintain new and legacy mold tooling. The role requires analyzing tooling data, recommending process improvements, and coordinating with global suppliers to optimize product quality and cost.

The successful candidate will work with engineering, quality and manufacturing teams, lead tooling projects, and ensure adherence to engineering standards while traveling locally as needed.

Qualifications

• 1 - 5 years of experience in similar roles or jobs.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes product and tooling data to identify required solutions.
• Recommends process and tooling changes to improve product quality.
• Coordinates tooling projects with domestic and international suppliers.
• Oversees or conducts R&D trials on plastic molding machines.
• Identifies solutions with suppliers to increase productivity and reduce overall costs.
• Leads or participates in product and tooling design reviews.
• Cross functionally engages with quality, engineering, manufacturing and other teams to develop products and solutions.
• Adheres to all corporate engineering standards including but not limited to documentation and file management.
• Autonomously plans and schedules personal tasks, develops solutions to problems utilizing education, experience, and judgment.
