Job summary

Samtec Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Co-Op to support and maintain new and legacy mold tooling. You will create solid models and detailed drawings using 3D software, analyze data to identify solutions, and participate in design reviews with quality, engineering and manufacturing teams.

Strong leadership, excellent communication, and solid interpersonal skills are essential. Proficiency in MS Office and experience with SolidWorks or AutoCAD are required.

Qualifications

• 1 - 5 years of experience in similar roles or jobs.
• Must be a self-starter with strong leadership.
• Outstanding communication skills and demonstrated problem solving ability.
• Excellent interpersonal skills relating to internal and external customers.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Knowledge of steel machining techniques, mold design, injection mold materials.
• Experience in engineering design software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

Responsibilities

• Capable of using 3D software to create solid models and detailed drawings, assemblies, mold setup documents.
• Analyze product and tooling data to identify required solutions.
• Recommend process and/or tooling changes to improve product quality.
• Leads or participates in product and tooling design reviews.
• Cross functionally engages with quality, engineering, manufacturing and other teams to develop products and solutions.
• Adheres to all corporate engineering standards including but not limited to documentation and file management.
• Autonomously plans and schedules personal tasks, develops solutions to problems utilizing education, experience, and judgment.
