Job summary

Samtec, Inc. seeks a Mechanical Engineer Co-Op in Erie, PA to support and maintain new and legacy mold tooling. You will create solid models and detailed drawings, analyze data, and propose tooling changes to improve quality.

You’ll lead design reviews, engage with quality, manufacturing and engineering teams, and follow corporate engineering standards. Strong communication and self-starting leadership are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 1-5 years of experience or in similar roles is preferred.
• Strong leadership and self-starter attitude.
• Outstanding communication and problem solving abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with internal and external customers.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Knowledge of steel machining techniques and mold design is a plus.
• Experience in engineering design software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

Responsibilities

• Capable of using 3D software to create solid models and detailed drawings, assemblies, mold setup documents.
• Analyze product and tooling data to identify required solutions.
• Recommend process and/or tooling changes to improve product quality.
• Lead or participate in product and tooling design reviews.
• Cross-functionally engage with quality, engineering, manufacturing and other teams to develop products and solutions.
• Adhere to corporate engineering standards including documentation and file management.
• Autonomously plan and schedule personal tasks and develop solutions using education, experience, and judgment.
