Job summary

The Clean Slate Initiative is seeking a Policy Coordinator to support our policy team through project management, policy research, and technical assistance. Reporting to the Public Policy Director, this role will help maintain knowledge of record relief policies across all 50 states and develop practical resources for policy, campaign, and implementation work.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at translating complex policy data into actionable tools.

Qualifications

• Experience conducting policy, legislative, legal, or public policy research.
• Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the Policy Department's day-to-day operations through project management, meeting coordination, and task tracking.
• Contribute to small- and large-scale policy initiatives with timelines and deliverables.
• Create and update policy tracking tools, legislative comparison frameworks, and knowledge templates for record relief laws across all 50 states.
• Track legislative developments and maintain summaries of state policy landscapes and implementation questions.
• Develop policy resources that support research, campaign planning, and technical assistance.
• Conduct research on record relief and related policies including sealing, expungement, and automated relief.
• Compile and organize policy information including eligibility rules, exclusions, waiting periods, and procedural requirements.
• Respond to policy questions from CSI staff and support meetings with partners.
