Job summary

The Clean Slate Initiative is seeking a Policy Coordinator to support our policy team with project management, policy research, and technical assistance across all 50 states. Reporting to the Public Policy Director, you will build resources that inform CSI's policy, campaigns, and implementation work.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of translating complex policy into practical tools for teams to make informed decisions.

Qualifications

• Experience conducting policy, legislative, legal, or public policy research.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple initiatives.
• Strong project management and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across teams.
• Passion for advancing equitable criminal justice policy and CSI mission.
• Familiarity with Asana, Google Workspace, PolicyNote, Airtable.

Responsibilities

• Support the Policy Department's day-to-day operations through project management, meeting coordination, and task tracking.
• Contribute to small and large policy projects while ensuring timelines and deliverables stay on track.
• Create and maintain internal policy tracking tools and knowledge templates for state laws.
• Track legislative developments and maintain summaries of state policy landscapes.
• Develop policy resources to support research, campaigns, and technical assistance.
• Conduct research on record relief and related policies (sealing, expungement, automated relief).
• Compile policy information including eligibility rules and procedural requirements.
• Respond to policy questions from CSI staff and support external meetings.
