Job summary

The Department of Public Works (DPW) in Washington, DC oversees the Solid Waste Management Administration (SWMA) and the Solid Waste Disposal Division (SWDD) to collect, dispose of solid waste, and enforce related laws while keeping DC streets clean.

The incumbent provides policy and program analyses, assists with regulatory recommendations, and coordinates contract administration and e-invoicing for SWDD hauling, disposal, and services, including the Benning Road Transfer Station project.

Qualifications

• Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
• To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

Responsibilities

• Provide policy and program analyses, reviews, and technical advice to the two Transfer Stations operated by the Department.
• Assist in preparing legislative and regulatory recommendations based on program mandates and work with the Office of the General Counsel to ensure regulatory codes are adhered to regarding residential disposal and commercial hauling requirements.
