Job summary

City of Richmond (CA) is seeking a Police Records Specialist to support the Police Department’s Records and Special Services Division. You will enter, review, and maintain law enforcement documents using multiple systems and serve the public and agencies with accuracy and discretion.

The ideal candidate has strong clerical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a diverse, 24/7 team. Prior experience with RMS and related databases is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Two years of full-time clerical experience.
  • Familiar with records management practices.
  • Ability to type at least 45 wpm.

Responsibilities

  • Operate terminals for entry and retrieval of law enforcement data in RMS, CJIS, NCIC, and related systems.
  • Process and file police records, reports, and invoices; issue receipts and reconcile cash drawers.
  • Fingerprint prisoners and process fingerprint cards; maintain DOJ-mandated records.
  • Disseminate reports to departments and external agencies per policy.
  • Assist the public and other agencies with information by phone or in person.
  • Work various shifts in a 24/7 operation wearing a uniform.
