Transfers of certified officers from Virginia are welcome; new officers may apply. Salary is $51,000, plus a $4,500 signing/retention bonus after three years of continuous service. NSU conducts background checks and requires work authorization in the U.S.

Job description

Norfolk State University's Police Department is responsible for the safety and security of all members of the University community. NSU invites applicants to the position of Police Officer. The incumbent is responsible for enforcing the laws of the Commonwealth, the rules and regulations of the University, and providing a safe and secure environment for all members of the community. To complete agency training programs and certifications to fully sworn officers advancing to perform senior law enforcement activities. Conduct independent patrol, inspections, arrests, evidence compilation, preservation, reports, testifying in judicial proceedings, education presentations and training. Responsible for investigation as well as training, coordination and assigning work within their field of assignment or expertise.

Norfolk State University Police Department is seeking certified officer transfers for applicants who possess or have possessed a Virginia law enforcement certification within the past three years. In addition, new officers who have not been through the process are eligible to apply.

Salary: $51,000.

• $4,500 signing/retention bonus for serving three years of continuous service upon employment.

• Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
