Job summary

The City of Rocky Mount Police Department seeks apprentices to complete Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) and earn the probationary NC LE Certificate. This VA-approved program helps veterans access funding under the Post 9/11 GI Bill and delivers essential law enforcement training.

Upon successful completion, pay is adjusted to $60,000 per year. Apprentices will gain knowledge in investigations, incident and arrest reporting, crime scene processing, and courtroom testimony while performing

Qualifications

• Must complete Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) and obtain probationary NC LE Certificate.
• No experience required.
• Able to meet NC Training and Standards Commission requirements.
• Must be at least 20 by the time of taking the state exam.
• No felony convictions. No serious misdemeanor convictions in the last 5 years.
• No Domestic Violence convictions.
• No DUI, DWI convictions in the last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Complete training to enforce local, state, and federal laws.
• Learn to investigate crimes and accidents and prepare reports.
• Develop skills to prepare cases and testify in District and Superior Courts.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
