Job summary

The City of Burlington, NC is looking for candidates to begin Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) toward a career as a Burlington Police Officer. Trainees will attend ACC BLET classes, participate in fitness and scenario drills, and complete coursework toward certification.

Hiring targets July 2026 and January 2027 classes; attendance may include afternoons, evenings, and some weekends. Applicants must meet NC requirements and show commitment to service and community safety.

Qualifications

• Ability to learn, apply laws, and follow department policies.
• Strong communication and writing skills for report writing.
• Comfort with police radio procedures and technology.

Responsibilities

• Attend BLET training at Alamance Community College daily.
• Listen, take notes, participate in discussions and tests.
• Engage in role-plays to develop decision-making and tactics.
• Complete coursework and pass exams to progress toward officer role.
