Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking a Fitter Welder 11 in Brenham, TX. The role involves assembling pole components by tack welding with GMAW and performing SAW welds to meet code requirements, with ultrasonic testing as needed.

The starting pay rate is $28.72–$29.95 per hour, with a 3rd shift schedule Monday–Thursday 9PM–7AM and potential for step pay increases at 90 days, 1 year and 2 years, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

Qualifications

• Must read and write English.
• 3-5 years experience fitting in manufacturing or fabrication.
• Ability to read blueprints and perform simple manufacturing math.
• 3 years experience reading and using blueprints.
• 3 years in manufacturing/fabrication or a welding tech program.
• Must pass FCAW, GMAW, SAW weld tests and maintain certification.
• Ability to operate overhead cranes (preferred).
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Tack weld various small components to shafts using GMAW.
• Weld out products to meet code requirements including ultrasonic testing.
• Position shafts for assembly using turner and crane.
• Read drawings to determine parts and locations for attachments.
• Cut steel with plasma torch and drill holes as required.
• Measure distances and angles with tape, levels, and squares.
