Job summary

Valmont Industries in Brenham, TX is seeking a Fitter Welder 11 to assemble pole components through GMAW, FCAW, and SAW processes on the Large Pole line. You will read drawings, position shafts, and use a jib crane to assemble parts, with occasional plasma cutting and measuring tasks.

The role includes a 4th shift schedule (Fri-Sun, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM) with potential overtime. The candidate should have 3–5 years of welding/fitting experience, be able to read blueprints, and hold welding

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write English.
• 3-5 years of experience fitting in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Ability to calculate simple mathematics and use common manufacturing mathematics.
• 3 years experience reading and using blueprints.
• 3 years previous experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, and/or have graduated from an acceptable Technical Training Program focused in welding.
• Must pass FCAW, GMAW, and SAW weld test and maintain certification.
• Ability to operate overhead cranes, prior experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Uses GMAW process to tack weld various small components to round or square shafts to make a pole assembly and SAW process for structural welds.
• Reads and interprets drawings to determine parts needed to assemble pole assembly.
• Locates and gathers parts needed for assembly from storeroom staging area.
• Uses plasma torch to cut steel.
• Maintains a clean and safe work area and adheres to LEAN practices.
