Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• X-ray certification required or within 3 months of hire.
• Completion of Medical Assistant training program and/or certification preferred (CMA, RMA, CCMA).
• Minimum 2 years experience in surgery scheduling or MA experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures.
• Proficient in EMR systems (preferably eCW) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgical scheduling, including pre-operative testing and post-operative appointments.
• Obtain prior authorizations and verify insurance coverage for procedures.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation including operative notes and orders.
• Educate and prepare patients with pre-operative instructions.
• Room patients, review medical histories, allergies, and medications.
• Assist during in-office podiatry procedures under provider guidance.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain supplies; ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Administer medications or injections as ordered (if certified).
• Perform diagnostic tasks such as x-rays and support documentation.
• Manage patient flow, check-in/out, co-pay collection, and follow-up scheduling.
