Job summary

The Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, MI is seeking attentive restaurant staff to support servers and ensure guests have a seamless dining experience. You will help with food delivery, set up tables, maintain cleanliness, and assist with inventory and communications during service.

Responsibilities

• Attend to guests' needs and assist team members as part of service.
• Remove used and dirty dishes to keep tables clean.
• Assist servers with delivering food to tables.
• Set up and replace table covers with clean linen, silver and glassware.
• Maintain housekeeping standards in dining area.
• Polish silverware and glassware.
• Deliver dirty linens to storage area.
• Ensure proper setup and breakdown within scheduled times by wait staff.
• Prepare presentation and timing of food and beverages.
• Report problems, compliments, or complaints to management.
• Inspect floors and remove dirty trays from hallways.
• Organize amenities for rooms as per concierge sheets.
• Maintain stock levels of silverware, glasses, salt/pepper, napkins, and cups.
• Handle check and cash appropriately.
• Relay messages from staff to the chef on duty to meet guest expectations.
• Notify manager on duty before breaks or leaving the station.
• Adhere to food safety and handling guidelines.

Job description

Awareness of the guests needs and provide assistance to team members as integral part of service

Remove all unused and dirty dishes once finished by the guest in order to maintain a clean table

Assists servers with delivering food to table

Set up and replace covers on tables between seating with clean linen, silver and glassware

Maintains proper housekeeping maintenance of dining area

Polishes silverware and glassware for dining room as trained

Deliver dirty linen to basement storage area

Ensures proper setup breakdown as well as within the scheduled time frame by wait staff

Prepare proper presentation and timing of food and beverages

Notifies management of all problems, complaints, and compliments

Inspect floors to remove all dirty trays and other items from hallways

Organize required amenities to rooms based on amenities sheet from concierge for delivery

Maintain and organize all silverware and glasses, salt and peppers, napkins folded, coffee cups and other various items to ensure proper stock levels

Check and cash handling responsibility

Relay all messages from servers, managers, and host throughout service to the chef on duty to insure all guest expectations are met

Alert manager on duty to taking of breaks or leaving their station for any extended period of time

Adherence to food safety and food handling guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduate or equivalent required

Previous experience in a similar role preferred

Requires the ability to communicate with guests in English

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Requires full mobility for entire duration of shift

Must be able to safely grasp, lift, carry or otherwise move goods weighing up to 30lb
