Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two years in mechanical, HVAC, plumbing or related construction.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing and mechanical systems and installation methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specs and codes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with HVAC/Mechanical/Industrial projects.
  • Measure and cut pipe per requirements.
  • Solder, braze, thread, grooving pipe; install hangers for carbon steel up to 24”.
  • Repair malfunctions, leaks, and test pipe systems.
  • Communicate professionally with management, superintendent, and customers.
  • Follow safety policies and report hazards.
  • Work across field and prefabrication shop environments.

Position: Pipe Fitter – Mechanical

MillerWorks is looking to fill a Pipe Fitter - Mechanical position in Tallahassee, FL. Position Summary:

The Pipe Fitter assists with the installation, fabrication, and maintenance of piping systems for HVAC, mechanical, and industrial projects. This role includes measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing pipe, troubleshooting and repairing systems, and performing testing to ensure proper function. The Pipe Fitter works collaboratively with crews and supervisors to complete projects safely, follows all safety requirements, and maintains professional communication with management, superintendents, and customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with all work related to HVAC/Mechanical/Industrial projects
  • Measure and cut pipe according to requirements
  • Soldering, brazing, threading pipe, grooving pipe, installing hangers as well as carbon steel pipe (up to 24”)
  • Repairing malfunctions, breakages or leaks
  • Testing pipe systems to ensure safety and functionality
  • Communicate professionally with management, superintendent and customers
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Observe, report and correct unsafe work environments
  • Collaborate with other workers to complete project
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong working knowledge of plumbing and mechanical systems, installation methods, and tools.
  • Knowledge of cutting and welding methods.
  • Working knowledge of jobsite safety practices and requirements.
  • Effective communication skills with crew members, supervisors, and other trades.
  • Skill in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and codes.
  • Ability to identify, install and repair mechanical pipe systems.
  • Ability to recognize, set up and operate hand and power tools common to the trade as needed.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in mechanical, HVAC, plumbing or related construction operations.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance and up to twenty-five (25) pounds overhead.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and on ladders or scaffolding.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, noise, and dust, while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to use hands and tools to grasp, manipulate, and assemble materials and equipment.
  • Ability to operate standard construction tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to maintain balance and coordination while performing job tasks in active construction environments.
  • Ability to see and hear sufficiently to recognize hazards and perform job duties safely.
  • Sufficient visual and auditory ability to observe work conditions, communicate effectively, and identify potential safety or operational issues.

Work for this position is performed primarily in field and prefabrication shop environments, with minimal time spent in an office setting. The role involves exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and typical construction hazards. Work requires mobility across job sites, including climbing, working at heights, and navigating uneven terrain. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
