Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Tampa, FL seeks a Mechanical Plumbing Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our office. This is not a remote position and the candidate will lead mechanical and plumbing design on a variety of projects, interfacing with clients and the design team to deliver solutions.

You will contribute to project management, prepare calculations, develop reports, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with industry professionals and contractors to meet project goals.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Design experience with HVAC systems and related controls.
  • Design experience with plumbing systems including water, sewer, and gas.
  • Experience producing energy studies including comcheck, Title 24.
  • Experience mentoring and coordinating the work of EITs, designers, and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects.
  • Able to manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Experience in AutoCAD and Revit is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team.

  • Manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Collaborate with professionals, jurisdictions, and contractors.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Mechanical Plumbing Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join the Tampa, Florida (FL) office! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities
  • Project Management role is in conjunction with lead engineer responsibilities.
  • Designing plumbing systems including all associated details, risers, isometrics, and specifications.
  • Perform system design calculations and equipment selections.
  • Laying out plumbing systems including but not limited to sanitary, grease, domestic water, and fire sprinklers.
  • Writes studies and reports for plumbing systems when needed on projects.
  • Ability to oversee the MEP design of projects from concept to completion, including continuous interface with the design team and clients.
  • Write responses to Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications for various clients and marketing opportunities
  • Mentor and coordinate the work of designers and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects
  • Manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (or ability to obtain within 12 months)

  • Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team
