Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join our Tampa, Florida office. This is not a remote position, and the role emphasizes leading HVAC design across projects from concept through completion.

You will collaborate with design teams, clients, and jurisdictions while mentoring junior staff and coordinating multi-discipline efforts. Strong communication and problem-solving are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • P.E. license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • HVAC and plumbing system design experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project management alongside the lead engineer.
  • Oversee HVAC design from concept to completion with design-team/client interface.
  • Prepare responses to RFp/RFQ for clients and marketing.
  • Mentor and coordinate EITs, designers, and other staff on mechanical projects.
  • Deliver tasks with minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Build meaningful internal and external professional relationships.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join the Tampa, Florida (FL) office! This is not a remote position.


Responsibilities


  • Project Management role is in conjunction with lead engineer responsibilities.

  • Ability to oversee the HVAC design of projects from concept to completion, including continuous interface with the design team and clients.

  • Write responses to Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications for various clients and marketing opportunities

  • Mentor and coordinate the work of designers and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects

  • Manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance

  • This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of engineers and designers on a variety of projects

  • You will flourish on both building meaningful internal and external professional relationships

  • You will work closely and collaboratively with other industry leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors


Qualifications


  • 4+ years of related experience

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (or ability to obtain within 12 months)

  • Proven design experience with comfort and HVAC systems and related controls

  • Proven design experience with plumbing systems including water, sewer, and gas

  • Experience producing engineering and energy studies including comcheck, Title 24

  • Experience mentoring and coordinating the work of EITs, designers, and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects

  • Able to manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance

  • Experience in AutoCAD and Revit is a plus

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability

  • Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team
