Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join the St. Pete, Florida office. This is not a remote position and involves leading HVAC design efforts for diverse projects.

You will manage projects, mentor staff, and interface with clients and the design team from concept through completion. Registration as a Professional Engineer or eligibility within 12 months is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of related experience.
  • PE license (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
  • Experience with HVAC systems and controls.
  • Experience with plumbing systems (water, sewer, gas).
  • Experience preparing energy studies (comcheck, Title 24).
  • Experience mentoring EITs and designers on mechanical projects.
  • AutoCAD and Revit experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design efforts and project management with the lead engineer.
  • Oversee HVAC design from concept to completion and coordinate with design team and clients.
  • Prepare responses to RFQs/RFPs for various clients.
  • Mentor and coordinate the work of designers and technical staff.
  • Deliver tasks with minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Collaborate with engineers, jurisdictions, and contractors on projects.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join the St. Pete, Florida (FL) office! This is not a remote position.


Responsibilities


  • Project Management role is in conjunction with lead engineer responsibilities.

  • Ability to oversee the HVAC design of projects from concept to completion, including continuous interface with the design team and clients.

  • Write responses to Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications for various clients and marketing opportunities

  • Mentor and coordinate the work of designers and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects

  • Manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance

  • This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of engineers and designers on a variety of projects

  • You will flourish on both building meaningful internal and external professional relationships

  • You will work closely and collaboratively with other industry leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors


Qualifications


  • 4+ years of related experience

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (or ability to obtain within 12 months)

  • Proven design experience with comfort and HVAC systems and related controls

  • Proven design experience with plumbing systems including water, sewer, and gas

  • Experience producing engineering and energy studies including comcheck, Title 24

  • Experience mentoring and coordinating the work of EITs, designers, and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects

  • Able to manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance

  • Experience in AutoCAD and Revit is a plus

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability

  • Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team
