Job summary

SSR is seeking a motivated Plumbing Engineer-in-Training (EIT) I to join our Plumbing Engineering team. You will assist with the design and analysis of plumbing and fire protection systems for healthcare, higher education, commercial, sports, and civic projects.

Working with experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will help develop code-compliant building systems while building the foundation for licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification obtained or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• Strong interest in thermal and fluid systems and building engineering.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design of plumbing and fire protection systems for healthcare, higher education, commercial, sports, and civic projects.
• Develop plumbing construction documents, drawings, specifications, and calculations.
• Perform engineering calculations for pipe sizing, fixture counts, system demand, pressure, and equipment selection.
• Use Revit, AutoCAD, and other design software to develop and coordinate layouts.
• Participate in interdisciplinary coordination with mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, and civil teams.
• Review equipment submittals and shop drawings for compliance.
• Conduct site visits and field observations to verify installation progress and resolve issues.
• Support project managers with documentation, schedules, and client deliverables.
• Research applicable codes, standards, and regulations to ensure compliant designs.
