Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Plumber/Steampipe Fitter to inspect and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures across heating, water, gas and drainage systems. The role includes maintaining medical air and suction systems and distributing medical gases, as well as servicing hydronic heating and cooling systems.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with four years of experience or 240 hours of vocational training, and must obtain Journeyman Plumber

• High School Diploma or equivalent or trade school
• Four years of relevant experience or 240 hours of vocational training
• Journeyman Plumber licensure must be obtained within 90 days of hire
• Anti-Backflow certification may be required within one year of employment

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures for heating, water, gas and drainage systems
• Operate, maintain and repair medical air and suction systems and medical gas distribution
• Maintain and repair heating and cooling hydronic systems
• Perform on-call duties and rotate weekends as required

This individual will also be responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of medical air and suction systems, medical gasses to include the distribution, piping, and terminal connections in addition to being responsible for maintenance and repair of heating and cooling hydronic systems.High School Grad or equivalent required. Four years of relevant experience OR 240 hours of vocational training required. Journeyman Plumber licensure must be obtained within 90 days (or less) from date of hire.Depending on location, facility may require MLB upon hire.
