Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a General Maintenance Mechanic for the PIPE SHOP in Norfolk, VA. The role covers building systems maintenance, HVAC, electrical and plumbing, with rotating shifts and on-call duties.

Candidates must live within 30 minutes of the SNGH campus and hold a VA or NC driver’s license. Certification in refrigerant recovery is preferred, and the position supports cross-shop collaboration and mission essential operations.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of maintenance experience
• VA or NC driver's license in good standing
• Refrigerant recovery certification Type I/II or Universal preferred
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance on building structure and systems (floors, walls, ceilings, lighting, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical) as directed
• Support other facility shops as required and work rotating shifts including weekends as needed
