Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems including boilers and rooftops.
• Perform field service on calls and projects with safety and quality in mind.
• Install and retrofit equipment, piping, ductwork, and electrical connections.
• Read and apply mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer docs.
• Maintain service records and job documentation; communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Ensure OSHA/EPA compliance and proper refrigerant handling; participate in on-call rotations.
• Keep tools and vehicles in safe, working condition; perform other duties as assigned.

MillerWorks is looking to fill a Commercial HVAC Technician position in Tallahassee, FL. Position Summary:

The Commercial HVAC performs skilled field diagnostics, repair, and installation of commercial HVAC systems, supports complex assignments under the guidance of senior technicians or supervisors, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and contributes to operational effectiveness through accurate documentation and clear communication.The role is critical to maintaining service quality, customer satisfaction, and adherence to company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems boilers, rooftop units, cooling towers, and pumps.
• Work in field operations on assigned service calls and projects, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.
• Perform system installations and retrofits, including equipment placement, piping, ductwork modifications, electrical connections, and support commissioning activities.
• Interpret and apply mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer documentation.
• Maintain accurate service records, equipment logs, and job documentation in compliance with internal reporting requirements.
• Communicate effectively with customers, project managers, dispatch, and leadership regarding job status, findings, and recommended actions.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local mechanical code requirements, including proper refrigerant handling and safety procedures.
• Participate in on - call rotations and respond to emergency service requests as needed.
• Maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment in safe and operational condition.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of refrigeration cycles, hydronic systems, and air distribution.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, digital gauges, and airflow measurement devices.
• Knowledge of applicable safety practices, procedures, and regulatory requirements necessary to maintain compliance and promote a safe working environment.
• Ability to work effectively in field teams, follow coordinated workflows, and support assigned work activities in collaboration with others.
• Possess analytical and problem - solving skills with the ability to assess commercial system failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders, facilitating clear information exchange, coordination of activities, and positive professional relationships.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound technical decisions in the field.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years of commercial HVAC service or installation experience.
• Or a combination of education and relevant experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential duties effectively.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

• NATE certification in commercial specialties preferred.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Manufacturer - specific training (Trane, Carrier, Daikin, Lennox, York) strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work on rooftops, in mechanical rooms, and in confined spaces.
• Ability to stand, climb, kneel, and work at heights for extended periods.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, and noise.
