Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Director of Platform Security Engineering and Operations to define strategy and lead enterprise security platforms. You will guide a team, set direction for tools spanning zero-trust, SASE/SSE, network security, vulnerability and exposure management, and AI guardrails, ensuring audit-ready, resilient platforms.

You will translate complex security work into risk and business outcomes for senior stakeholders, drive cross-functional collaboration, and oversee delivery,

Qualifications

• 15+ years in IT/cybersecurity, cloud, or platform engineering.
• 5+ years leading enterprise-scale security teams or programs.
• Deep expertise in vulnerability scanning, zero trust, network security, and web security architectures.
• Excellent executive communication with senior stakeholders.
• Experience in regulated environments with audit and control requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead Security Platform Engineering Teams and set technical/operational direction.
• Define standards, runbooks, and models for security tools and platforms.
• Coordinate cross-functional security initiatives across engineering, risk, audit, and operations.
• Own metrics on coverage, control effectiveness, and risk reduction.
• Ensure audit support and evidence quality for regulatory expectations.
