Northern Trust is seeking a Sr Principal Software Engineer to lead the AI Security Platform for code analysis across enterprise codebases. The role emphasizes platform ownership, architectural evolution, and scalable security automation in a cloud-native environment.

You will mentor engineers, enhance front-end dashboards, and extend backend services that orchestrate AI-powered vulnerability analysis and reporting, while integrating secure authentication and authorization.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 5+ years in a lead, principal, or senior engineering role.
• Experience with enterprise-scale applications in regulated environments.
• Expert-level React development and SPA architecture.
• Strong Python development and API design skills.
• Experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) and automation frameworks.
• Knowledge of application security and vulnerability management.

Responsibilities

• Platform ownership for the AI Code Scanner platform, including modernization and scalability.
• Front-end development to improve dashboards, workflow management, and auth patterns.
• Backend & AI engineering to expand orchestration, AI analysis, reporting, and security workflows.
