Job summary

the company is building a large-scale observability platform and is hiring a Software Engineer to join the Platform Observability team. This remote role supports a multi-year transformation, shifting to a unified OpenTelemetry-first stack for scalable data collection, analytics, and incident response.

You will lead architecture and mentor engineers across Platform Engineering and R&D, shaping telemetry standards and tooling for cost control and reliability.

Qualifications

• Proven expertise in building and scaling observability systems such as logs, metrics, traces, or profiling tools.
• Lead technical execution for major components of the observability overhaul and data lake shift.
• Proficiency in at least one modern language (Go, Python, Java).
• Experience designing high-scale telemetry systems (Prometheus, ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry, Kafka).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems in microservice environments.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and IaC tools.
• Provide architectural guidance and thought leadership across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end architecture and delivery of key observability platform components.
• Drive consistency and quality across observability signals (logs, metrics, traces).
• Mentor engineers and guide cross-team architectural decisions.
• Deep-dive into problem areas like high-cardinality telemetry and cost insights.
• Collaborate with product teams, SREs, and developer experience groups.
• Design and build developer-friendly tooling and APIs for incident response and performance analysis.
• Leverage OpenTelemetry standards to ensure interoperability.
• Champion pragmatic tradeoffs balancing performance, cost, and value.
