Job summary

Render is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Platform team to lead a growing group of engineers focused on internal developer platform, observability, and production infrastructure. You’ll partner with Runtime, Security, and Product to translate user needs into scalable roadmaps, mentor engineers, and deliver meaningful improvements that improve developer velocity and reliability.

This role blends leadership with hands-on technical work, requiring a strong background in distributed systems

Qualifications

• 8+ years engineering experience on an infrastructure or platform team.
• 4+ years of people management experience, including hiring and mentoring engineers.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams.
• Strong background in system design and engineering tradeoffs.
• Ability to translate goals into roadmaps and shipped features.
• Strong ownership and accountability for team outcomes and system health.
• Experience improving reliability or developer experience through tooling and processes.
• Experience with open source technologies supporting internal platform tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a platform engineering team with mentorship and clear technical guidance.
• Drive execution on platform initiatives from ideation to launch.
• Foster ownership and continuous improvement across engineering practices and processes.
• Engage in technical discussions, guiding system design decisions and tradeoffs.
• Stay current with industry trends and tooling to inform team learning and investments.
• Break down complex problems into incremental milestones delivering quick value.
• Ensure developer experience, reliability, security, and velocity are considered in features.
• Collaborate with Runtime, Security, and Product to align priorities and deliver impactful platform solutions.
