Job summary

GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer II to build high-performance, low-maintenance platforms and applications. You will help drive our transformation as we become a technology-driven organization with engineering excellence and a culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.

The role involves working across the organization to deliver high-quality tech products in a fast-paced environment, spanning front-end UIs to back-end systems.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience with architecture and design.
• 2+ years of experience building products in microservices-oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs.
• 2+ years of experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.

Responsibilities

• Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems.
• Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle.
• Participate in design sessions and code reviews to elevate engineering quality.
• Define, create, and support reusable application components/patterns across business and tech perspectives.
• Use C# or other OO languages, SQL/NoSQL databases, Docker/Kubernetes, and Azure tools/services.
• Deliver software using Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe), CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, PowerShell, Azure Portal, and monitoring portals.
• Build product definitions and leverage skills to determine solutions.
• Share best practices and improve processes across teams.
