Job summary

Coinbase in the United States is seeking Software Engineers for the Developer Infrastructure group who will build and operate core platform services, CI, build systems, and test infrastructure at scale. You'll own components end to end, collaborate across engineering teams, and push for production-ready code, reliability, security, and observability.

This is a remote-first role with quarterly in-person surges; candidates should have 2+ years in distributed systems and experience with Kubernetes,

Qualifications

• 2+ years building and operating production software with distributed systems focus.
• Shipping backend or platform features with ownership from implementation to production.
• Strong reliability, security, and observability mindset.
• Clear communication and ability to drive scoped projects with limited guidance.
• Customer-focused mindset measuring impact on engineers.
• Exposure to CI/CD, build systems, deployment tooling, test infra, or developer productivity.
• Experience with Kubernetes, AWS, GitHub Actions, Terraform or containers.
• Familiarity with observability and performance tools (e.g., Datadog).
• Responsible use of AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Build, ship, and operate core developer-infrastructure features used at Coinbase scale.
• Improve metrics like build time, deploy speed, and test feedback.
• Own end-to-end components from implementation to monitoring and on-call rotation.
• Write high-quality, production-grade code and drive integration with teams.
• Collaborate with Coinbase engineers to translate pain points into platform improvements.
• Contribute to technical design and drive your own work to completion.
• Share knowledge, perform code reviews, and raise the quality bar.
