Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Developer Infrastructure group. You will design, build, and operate core platform services that empower thousands of engineers, focusing on CI, build systems, deployment, and test infrastructure.

You’ll own end-to-end services, improve reliability and performance, and mentor peers while collaborating across teams. The role emphasizes remote-first work with quarterly in-person surges and security-forward, high-scale operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating production software with distributed systems fundamentals.
• Strong backend or platform experience with ownership from design to production.
• Reliability, security, and observability focus in day-to-day work.
• Clear communication and ability to drive projects independently.
• Experience in developer infrastructure such as CI/CD, test infra, or productivity tools.
• Experience operating at scale with Kubernetes, AWS, GitHub Actions, Terraform and containers.
• Familiarity with observability and performance tooling (e.g., Datadog).
• Responsible use of AI with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core developer infrastructure services across CI, build systems, deployment orchestration, and test infrastructure.
• Improve engineering productivity metrics like build/CI time, deploy speed, safety, and test feedback quality.
• Own services end to end including architecture, observability, SLOs, and on-call operations.
• Partner with engineering teams to understand pain points and translate them into platform improvements.
• Lead technical design for cross-cutting projects and drive them through production.
• Mentor engineers and help shape the technical direction of the platform.
