Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Software Engineer for the Developer Infrastructure group in a remote-first, hybrid environment. You will build, ship, and operate core dev-infrastructure services spanning CI, build systems, deployment orchestration, and test infrastructure.

You’ll own end-to-end components, improve production metrics, and collaborate with multiple Coinbase teams to deliver scalable, secure platform solutions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years building and operating production software with distributed systems fundamentals.
• Experience shipping backend or platform features relied upon by other services.
• Strong reliability, security, and observability mindset.
• Clear communication and ability to drive scoped projects with limited guidance.
• Customer-focused mindset; measure success by impact on engineers.
• Exposure to developer infrastructure domains: CI/CD, build systems, release tooling, test infra, or productivity engineering.
• Experience with Kubernetes, AWS, GitHub Actions, Terraform, or containers (Docker/OCI).
• Experience with observability and performance tooling (e.g., Datadog).
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build, ship, and operate core developer-infrastructure services (CI, build systems, deployment, test infra).
• Improve metrics like build/CI wall time, deploy speed, test feedback, and flakiness.
• Own components end-to-end from implementation to monitoring and on-call rotation.
• Write high-quality, production-ready code and ensure test coverage.
• Collaborate with Coinbase teams to translate pain points into platform improvements.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and drive own work items to completion.
• Share knowledge and raise quality through thoughtful code reviews.
