Job summary

Speechify is a distributed, remote‑first company building accessible text‑to‑speech products used by millions. The Platform team owns the core backend: payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption metering, and analytics across iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome, and Web apps.

As a backend engineer, you’ll own critical services, ensure correctness, automate routine work, and collaborate with product, mobile, and web to keep our architecture ahead of product needs.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience with TypeScript/Node.js.
• Experience building robust backend services and APIs.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred).
• Ability to automate and improve systems with AI agents.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the backend APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and the public TTS API.
• Improve existing services to be faster, cheaper, and more reliable.
• Establish correctness before shipping and implement long‑lasting checks.
