Job summary

Speechify’s Platform team owns the backend powering our TTS API, payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics across iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome, and web. You’ll design, build, and own core APIs, improve systems, and automate repetitive work to scale with demand.

You’ll collaborate with product, mobile, and web squads to keep backend architecture aligned with roadmap, push reliability, and drive cost efficiency at scale.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in TS/Node (required)
• Direct experience with GCP; working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or another cloud
• Habit of giving away work you used to own, with tangible results
• Daily setup with AI agents and automation details
• Checks against logs and DB state rather than summaries
• Judgment about what not to build and why you dropped it
• Preference for being corrected over being right
• Docker and containerized deployments preferred
• Deploying high-availability apps on Kubernetes preferred

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and our public TTS API
• Take on services you didn’t write and make them faster, cheaper, and harder to break
• Establish correctness before shipping and maintain checks afterwards
• Automate parts of your role to focus on higher-impact work
• Turn work you’ve done once into repeatable processes
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to keep backend architecture ahead of the product
