Job summary

Speechify is a fully distributed company with no physical offices. We are hiring a Platform Software Engineer in Indianapolis to design, build, and own the backend APIs powering payments, subscriptions, and the public TTS API.

You will optimize systems for correctness, reliability, and scalability across multiple clients and platforms. Ideal candidates bring strong TS/Node backend experience, hands-on GCP work, and familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Backend experience in TS/Node (required).
• Direct experience with GCP; working knowledge of AWS, Azure.
• Ability to hand off work you used to own and show impact.
• Experience with AI agents in daily workflow.
• Ability to verify results against logs, DB state, and actual requests.
• Judgment to drop unnecessary work and explain why.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and our public TTS API.
• Improve existing services to be faster, cheaper, and more reliable.
• Ensure changes are correct before shipping and leave strong post-release checks.
• Automate repetitive tasks and scale repeatable work.
• Turn one-off work into scalable solutions for the team.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers building on Speechify.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to keep backend architecture aligned with product direction.
