Job summary

Grafana Labs is seeking a Backend Engineer for the AppCore Stacks squad to build and operate the Grafana Cloud stack lifecycle tooling at scale. You will work on core services that create, configure, reconcile, migrate, and operate stacks, coordinating with multiple teams and cloud regions.

You’ll focus on stateful systems, reconciliation loops, and reliable rollout processes using Golang, Kubernetes, and IaC tooling, while thriving in a remote-first, globally distributed environment.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of fully remote work experience.
• Experience with SaaS platforms and distributed systems concepts.
• Proficient in Golang; able to work across backend services and applications.
• Focus on developer experience, reliability, and customer-facing systems.
• Clean, well-tested code; able to break work into iterative tasks.
• Collaborate across teams; communicate tradeoffs.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes in AWS, GCP, or Azure and IaC tooling (Helm, Terraform, Jsonnet).
• Experience participating in blameless incident response and post-incident reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate reconciliation systems, including the SSS backend.
• Collaborate across SSS, grafana.com, and deployment configurations for reliable stack lifecycles.
• Improve deployment efficiency and contribute to Stack Config Reconciliation projects.
• Manage rollout mechanisms for plugins, dashboards, data sources, and stack configuration.
• Support new region and cluster rollouts; ensure safe stack operation.
