Job summary

Speechify in the United States is seeking a senior backend engineer to own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, and the TTS platform. You’ll design, build, and scale services that power millions of users across web and mobile, while reducing latency and preventing double charges.

You’ll collaborate with product and frontend teams to keep backend architecture ahead of product growth, and you’ll automate repetitive work to unlock higher impact.

Qualifications

• Backend development experience in TS/Node
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS or Azure)
• Ability to ship reliable services with strong correctness
• Experience with AI-assisted tooling in workflows
• Ability to check results against logs and DB state

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and our public TTS API
• Take on services you didn’t write and make them faster, cheaper, and harder to break
• Set correctness gates before shipping and leave behind robust checks
• Automate repetitive tasks and expand what you can accomplish
• Turn one-off work into repeatable team processes
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to future-proof backend architecture
