Yahoo is a global media and tech company that builds high-performance, real-time experiences across its products. You will work on the core platform for collaborative UI and ensure reliability, latency, and scalability.

As a Principal Engineer, you will own platform architecture, CRDT-based multi-user editing, real-time data pipelines, and AI-assisted tooling. You’ll mentor others, shape standards, and collaborate with product and design to raise engineering bar.

Formación

• 8+ years designing, building, and operating production-scale web platforms.
• Advanced mastery of TypeScript, JavaScript, React, and server-side runtimes (Node.js or Bun).
• Hands-on experience with real-time data models, WebSockets, and collaborative editing (CRDTs or OT).
• Strong SQL and PostgreSQL foundations, including schema evolution and access-control patterns.
• Experience diagnosing browser and server performance issues using profilers and diagnostics.

Responsabilidades

• Platform Architecture & Core Infrastructure: Own the architecture, scalability, and uptime of our real-time collaboration server, Postgres-backed persistence layer, background jobs, and the APIs that sit on top of them.
• Collaborative Systems & Data Integrity: Design, harden, and evolve multi-user editing built on CRDTs (Yjs). Guarantee reliable sync, reconnection, conflict handling, undo/redo, and save durability.
• AI-Augmented Developer Tooling & Agent Interfaces: Architect and maintain agent-ready interfaces, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, and automated pipelines for AI coding agents.
• Performance & Canvas Engineering: Profile and optimize end-to-end bottlenecks: interactive canvas rendering, frame rates, hydration and bundle payloads, query cost, memory footprint, and server health.
• Developer Infrastructure & Monorepo Operations: Evolve our large TypeScript monorepo, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and preview, staging, and production environments.
• Observability & Systemic Resilience: Define SLOs, metrics, logging, and real-time alerting; lead blameless post-incident reviews.
• Security & Access Control: Partner on authentication, authorization, and permission models across systems.
• UI Engineering: Contribute to product UI in React and TypeScript where performance and data flow matter.
• AI Workflow Leadership & Quality: Set standards for AI coding agents with rigorous review and testing.
• Technical Mentorship & Governance: Lead architecture reviews and mentor staff.
