Yahoo is seeking a seasoned Principal Engineer to own the platform's scalability, real-time collaboration infrastructure, and CRDT-based editing systems. You will guide architecture across Postgres-backed persistence, background jobs, and top-level APIs, ensuring high performance and reliability.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural consensus, and collaborate with product and design to deliver fast, observable, and safe software.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, building, and operating production-scale web platforms.
• Advanced mastery of TypeScript, JavaScript, React and server-side runtimes.
• Hands-on with real-time data models, WebSockets, and collaborative editing.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture, scalability, and uptime of real-time collaboration server and APIs.
• Design and harden multi-user editing with CRDTs, ensuring reliable sync and durability.
• Architect AI tooling interfaces, MCP servers, and automated pipelines for safe AI-assisted changes.
• Profile and optimize interactive canvas rendering and server performance; enforce regression budgets in CI.
