Yahoo’s Central Foundations team designs and builds the core interactions and tooling that fuel our AI-assisted generation platform. You will craft the UI, motion, and component states, while shipping production-ready code in collaboration with product teams. The role emphasizes craft, critique and engineering rigor in a fast-paced environment.

The team values pixel-level polish, strong design systems, and an iterative approach that translates user feedback into robust features.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience shipping interactive tools.
• Strong hands-on experience building interactive UI with React and TypeScript in production.
• Solid visual design foundations including typography, layout, color and spacing.
• Portfolio required with live, interactive web apps or design tools.

Responsibilities

• Design & Engineering Execution: build core interactions, selection systems, manipulation mechanics, layouts, keyboard navigation and UI states for AI generation.
• Visual & Interaction Design: shape the tool's visual language, typography, motion, layout, hierarchy and components.
• Interactive & Motion Authoring: own how motion and interaction are authored and previewed.
• Production Delivery: ship production-quality code using React/TypeScript with standard workflows.
• Customer-Centric Iteration: work with internal teams to turn feedback into features through prototyping and exploration.
• Quality & Standards: improve interaction quality, accessibility, and performance via reviews and prototypes.
• Collaboration & Communication: bridge design and engineering, surface problems and align on intent and tradeoffs.
