Yarde Metals is seeking a Plate Saw Operator for the 2nd shift in Southington, CT. The role involves setting up and operating plate saws to process material according to customer specifications. This position requires safety-first conduct and precise measurement work.

Responsibilities include organizing workflows, transporting materials with forklifts, performing quality inspections, and preparing items for packaging and shipment. This is a hands-on manufacturing role with overtime potential.

Qualifications

• Safety-sensitive position: operation of heavy machinery.
• Warehouse, material handling, and forklift experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read, understand and carry out work instructions in English.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs, pass background check, drug screen, and meet physical requirements.

Job Summary

Yarde Metals is looking for plate saw operator to join our Operations Team. A plate saw operator sets up and operates plate saws and safely processes material according to customer specifications and requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• SAFETY FIRST!
• Organize work orders to efficiently process material.
• Transport material throughout the warehouse using forklifts and cranes.
• Set up machines by selecting appropriate nozzles, setting speeds, and feeds.
• Measure material using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
• Confirm source material processed is from the correct location and is the correct material.
• Conduct first piece and in-process inspections according to quality sampling plan.
• Stack and sort finished products for packaging.
• Pack and protect material for shipment.
• Clean saws according to maintenance procedures.
• Perform additional warehouse duties as directed by supervisor.

Requirements & Qualifications

***This is a SAFETY SENSITIVE position: requires operating heavy machinery.**

• History of working safely and productively.
• Warehouse, material handling, and forklift experience required.
• Previous machining or experience directly related to the duties of the position strong preferred.
• Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions required.
• Must be able to read and understand basic measurement functions (ruler, caliper, etc.)
• Dependable, punctual, and works well with others.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to read, understand, and carry out work instructions in English.
• Able to pass background check, drug screen, physical, meet physical requirements of the position.
• Ability to pass a human performance evaluation to meet physical requirements of the job (lifting up to 70 lbs., pushing, pulling, etc.)
• Willingness to work required overtime.
