Job summary

Yarde Metals, Inc. in Southington, CT is seeking a Bar Saw Operator for the 2nd shift (1:30PM - 10:00PM). Pay ranges from $23.98 to $26.83 per hour. The role involves setting up and safely operating bar saws to cut material as ordered by customers.

Responsibilities include organizing work orders, material handling with forklifts/cranes, measuring with calipers, and performing inspections per the quality plan. Safety-sensitive with overtime potential.

Qualifications

• Must pass background check, drug screen, and physical.

• Clean saws according to maintenance procedures.
• Perform additional warehouse duties as directed by supervisor.

1:30PM - 10:00PM

$23.98 - $26.83 /HRLY

Yarde Metals is looking for a Bar Saw Operator to join our operations team. A Bar Saw Operator sets up and safely operates the saws to cut material into pieces as ordered by the customer.

Job Responsibilities

• SAFETY FIRST!
• Organize work orders to efficiently process material.
• Transport material throughout the warehouse using forklifts and cranes.
• Set up machines by selecting appropriate nozzles, setting speeds, and feeds.
• Measure material using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
• Confirm source material processed is from the correct location and is the correct material.
• Conduct first piece, in-process, and final inspections according to quality sampling plan.
• Stack and sort finished products for packaging.
• Pack and protect material for shipment.
• Clean saws according to maintenance procedures.
• Perform additional warehouse duties as directed by supervisor.

Requirements & Qualifications

This is a SAFETY SENSITIVE position: requires operating heavy machinery.

• History of working safely and productively.
• Warehouse, material handling, and forklift experience required.
• Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions required.
• Must be able to read and understand basic measurement functions (ruler, caliper, etc.)
• Dependable, punctual, and works well with others.
• Previous machining or experience directly related to the duties of the position strong preferred.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to read, understand, and carry out work instructions in English.
• Able to pass background check, drug screen, physical, meet physical requirements of the position.
  • Ability to pass a human performance evaluation to meet physical requirements of the job (lifting up to 70 lbs., pushing, pulling, etc.)
• Willingness to work required overtime.
