Job summary

CRH Americas Building Products in Colfax, NC is seeking a Production Manager to lead daily manufacturing operations, drive safety, quality, and productivity, and partner with senior leadership to achieve performance goals.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on leadership, a track record of developing teams, improving processes, and delivering results in a fast-paced plastics production environment. This role reports to the Plant Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong mathematical aptitude.
• Ability to read and use precision measuring instruments (rulers, calipers, micrometers).
• Manual dexterity with hand tools and production equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent standing, walking, and lifting.
• Manufacturing experience, preferably in plastics production.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Proven ability to lead, train, motivate, and communicate effectively with employees and management.
• Working knowledge of production operations, equipment, material handling, quality control, and safety practices.
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all production activities for assigned shift.
• Organize and delegate tasks to employees.
• Ensure that personnel are working efficiently and effectively through follow-up and training.
• Teach, advocate, and observe safe working practices.
• Oversee the effective and timely changeover of production lines.
• Drive shop organization for smooth production flow and machine readiness.
• Hire, train, direct, and mentor shift employees.
• Conduct routine employee performance reviews.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S.
• Record shop logs and personnel information.
• Communicate problems with other supervisors or department heads as needed.
• Initiate disciplinary action per policy and maintain good worker relations.
• Meet or exceed goals for production output, quality, scrap, and utilization.
• Coordinate between departments and adapt to assignments.
