Job summary

CSL is seeking a healthcare professional to join our donor center as a medical evaluation specialist for automated pheresis. You will interview donors, assess medical history, determine donor suitability and provide routine care following SOPs.

Under supervision you will escalate critical cases to the Center Physician and counsel donors on test results and follow-up care. RN, paramedic, PA or medical school background is preferred, with at least one year of healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• Foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school graduates must be licensed as a physician or state-certified EMT.
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as an RN, MD or DO in the state of applying or in a reciprocal state.
• Minimum of one year of relevant healthcare experience.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lungs, signs of drug use, etc.
• RNs are eligible to apply.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures under supervision.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff in accordance with licensure.
• Interview donors and review medical history to determine donation suitability.
• Collaborate with Center Medical Director to answer questions on donor suitability.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms.
• Counsel donors on reactive test results and refer to appropriate facilities for follow-up.
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to the Center Physician or local providers as required.
